President John Dramani Mahama has appointed Abraham Amaliba as the Acting Director-General of the National Road Safety Authority.

Mr. Amaliba is currently the Director of Conflict Resolution for the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

His appointment, effective from January 23, 2025, was made in accordance with Article 195(1) of the Constitution and Section 13(2) of the National Road Safety Authority Act, 2019 (Act 993), pending the receipt of the Constitutionally required advice from the governing Board of the Authority, given in consultation with the Public Services Commission.

Amaliba has been formally notified of his appointment and has been requested to indicate his acceptance within 14 days.

The President extended his best wishes to Mr. Amaliba and congratulated him on his new role.

This appointment is seen as a significant step in ensuring the continued focus on road safety and the effective management of the National Road Safety Authority.

The announcement has been communicated to key stakeholders, including the Vice President, the Chief of Staff, the Minister of Transport, the Board Chairman of the National Road Safety Authority, and the Chairperson of the Public Services Commission.

It was announced in a statement signed and issued by Dr. Callistus Mahama, Secretary to the President on January 23.
