Finance Minister, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, has tasked the leadership of the Controller and Accountant-General’s Department and the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) to work diligently to meet and exceed fiscal and revenue targets.
During a meeting with these key agencies under his supervision, Dr. Forson stressed the need for fiscal discipline in driving national development.
He urged the officials to discharge their duties with a commitment to excellence and to strive to leave a lasting legacy of financial stability for the country.
One of his major objectives is to reduce Ghana’s inflation rate to single digits, with a target of 8%.
Dr. Forson intends to achieve this through robust fiscal policies, particularly by controlling government expenditure.
Additionally, he has set a goal to increase tax revenue from 13.8% of GDP to around 16.8% as part of his fiscal reforms to eliminate the E-Levy and the betting tax..”
He highlighted the critical role of the GRA in achieving the nation’s economic goals and called for collaborative efforts to improve revenue collection and management practices.
The government has said, it is focused on enhancing public financial management and ensuring sustainable economic growth.
