Multiple accidents occurred on Saturday, January 18, after residents of Asankari along the Accra-Kumasi Highway rushed to siphon fuel from an overturned tanker.
Eyewitnesses reported that the tanker toppled in the middle of the road, obstructing vehicles transporting goods and passengers between Accra and Kumasi.
As diesel spilt from the overturned tanker, residents, including minors, hurriedly fetched the fuel using cans, containers, and barrels.
The chaotic scene led to collisions involving several vehicles, including a cargo truck, an O.A. Travel and Tour Coaster Bus, and others.
The injured were transported to the nearest hospital for medical treatment.
