Edudzi Tameklo, the Legal Director for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has expressed strong confidence in the abilities of Dr. Dominic Akuritinga Ayine, who has been appointed as the minister-designate for Attorney-General and Justice.
On January 9, President John Dramani Mahama announced his first set of ministerial appointments, with Dr. Cassiel Ato Baah Forson appointed as Minister for Finance, and John Abdulai Jinapor as Minister for Energy.
President Mahama officially submitted the ministerial nominations to the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, in line with Article 78 of Ghana’s 1992 Constitution. The Speaker has referred the nominees to the Appointments Committee for further review.
In an interview with Channel One News’ Nana Tuffour Boateng, Tameklo praised Dr. Ayine’s extensive experience, particularly his expertise in asset retrieval, and emphasized how valuable this would be in his new role at the Attorney General’s Department.
“He brings to the office that level of dignity. For me, I want to thank H.E John Dramani Mahama for this laudable, dignified elevation. The office of the AG has its own politics so you will need that experience to appreciate the politics within that office.
“Hon. Dr Dominic Ayine has more than enough when it comes to that experience…I have absolute confidence that he will succeed.”
He stated that the first three appointments by the President are very critical to his government, describing the team as a “fantastic team.”
