The New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Okaikwei Central constituency has raised serious concerns, accusing supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) of planning to plant fake pink sheets at the NPP’s office in Abeka.
According to the NPP, the alleged scheme is intended to falsely accuse them of electoral malpractice.
This accusation comes amid growing tension in the constituency following the 2024 parliamentary election.
Initially, the NDC’s parliamentary candidate, Baba Sadiq Abdulai Abu, was declared the winner with a significant majority.
However, this declaration was later contested, and the NPP’s Patrick Boamah was eventually sworn in as the Member of Parliament for the constituency.
At a press conference held at the NPP’s office, the party’s 1st Vice Chairman for Okaikwei Central, Rafik Harunu, shared the party’s concerns and announced their intention to report the matter to the police.
“We have taken note of the NDC’s plan to plant a fake pink sheet in our office and call the media to capture it, just to frame us. But we called this meeting to inform the public about the NDC’s intentions to tarnish the image of the party in the constituency.
“We are not going to allow this, We already have this information and will ensure the appropriate authorities are informed. From here, we will report the case to the police,” Harunu stated.
