The family of a 15-year-old girl in the defilement case has expressed gratitude to the Overlord of Dagbon Yaa Naa Mahama Abukari II for his intervention in the matter.
This follows an alleged defilement of a 15-year-old girl by a 25-year-old man at Kulkpang in the Yendi municipality but a chief in Yendi, Zohe Naa asked the police to withdraw the case to his palace for settlement.
The family, however, was not happy about the Chief’s directive and demanded justice for their daughter.
The Overlord of Dagbon has, however, intervened to order the Chief to allow the law to take its course.
The family expressed happiness about the Overlord’s directive and has expressed thanks to him.
Speaking to Citi News, he also expressed gratitude to the police for their massive support.
“I am very happy that the Overlord of Dagbon Yaa Naa Mahama Abukari II has intervened. The law must work on the issue. I would like to thank him so much for what he has done.
Frankly speaking, the Police have done a lot and I can not pay them back for that. Day in and day out, they are with me in the hospital checking up on my daughter.”
The Gbewaa Palace declined to speak on the record on the issue. The police are on a manhunt for the suspect who is currently on the run.
