A delegation from the General Council of Assemblies of God, Ghana, along with the Nyankpen and Wengam families and Cedar Mountain Chapel, visited President John Mahama to inform him of the passing of Madam Deborah Wengam, the biological mother of Rev. Stephen Wengam, General Superintendent of Assemblies of God, Ghana.
The delegation, led by Rev. Dr. Godwin Tito Agyei, the Assistant General Superintendent, took the opportunity to invite the President to the funeral service scheduled for Saturday, January 25, 2025, at 8:00 AM. The service will be held at the Forecourt of the State House in Accra.
Rev. Tito Agyei eulogized the late Madam Deborah Wengam, noting that she had been a dedicated member of the church for 71 years.
He praised her for raising a visionary leader in Rev. Stephen Wengam, who continues to guide the church. He also mentioned that the funeral is expected to draw attendees from all walks of life, including a large delegation from the international community.
The Assistant General Superintendent thanked President Mahama for his earlier visit to the bereaved family to offer condolences.
President Mahama, in turn, commended the late Madam Deborah Wengam for her service to both her generation and the church.
He expressed his condolences to Rev. Stephen Wengam and the family, offering prayers for the peaceful rest of Madam Deborah Wengam’s soul.
