U/E: Residents decry overcrowding at MTN Bolgatanga office

Some residents of the Upper East Region have expressed concerns over what they describe as persistent overcrowding at the premises of the MTN main office in Bolgatanga by its customers.

These customers who usually queue for various mobile telecommunication services sometimes have to spend days at the office to access their needs.

Speaking to Citi News, the Assembly member for the Sumbrungu Electoral Area, Elias Apasiba Ayembilla, stated the situation is disheartening and needs urgent attention.

He said some customers usually sleep over at the premises of the office to access the services.

“We are here this morning at the MTN Ghana office in Bolgatanga municipality to look at what has been happening here. This has been a consistent and persistently overcrowding of customers at this place.

“Customers come to have their concerns addressed and they will have to spend several nights here to get their problems finally resolved. Due to the crowd, some of the customers fight themselves.

“Assuming you have issues to address come and spend two to three days here. Imagine someone is here to withdraw his money that has been locked up in the account to get medication for a sick person and the person is supposed to spend three days here, what do you think will happen to the sick person.”

Achuliwor Michael is a resident of Zorkor, who travelled to Bolgatanga for the services of the telecommunications network. He tells Citi News the process is cumbersome and needs urgent redress.

“I am here to replace my sim. I got here around 10 and they said they were issuing numbers. I didn’t get a number. As you can see, all those standing here didn’t get numbers. It is only those that are seated that have numbers and there’s still chaos in the queue. It would have been nice if MTN did something about it. Zorkor is a district by itself. If they had opened a branch there, I wouldn’t have travelled to this place.

Meanwhile, all the attempts to speak to the management of the telecommunications (MTN) regarding the matter proved futile.
