The Akosombo International School Old Students Association (AISOSA), Class of 2004, has marked 20 years since their graduation with a donation of 500 chairs to their alma mater. This contribution aims to enhance the comfort and learning experience of the growing student population.

The donation took place over the weekend at Akosombo International School (AIS), where alumni, friends, and family gathered to celebrate the milestone and give back to the institution that shaped their lives. The highlight of the event was the presentation of the new chairs, a result of innovative fundraising efforts by the 2004 Year group.

Speaking at the event, Genevieve Partington, President of AISOSA 2004, shared: “It feels like just yesterday we were walking these halls and dreaming of the future. We wanted to do something truly impactful to express our gratitude to AIS for the foundation it gave us.

“This isn’t just about a donation; it is about investing in the future of AIS and the students who will follow in our footsteps. We’re already brainstorming something even bigger for our 25th anniversary in 2029.”

Mrs. Sarah Adei, Headmistress of Akosombo International School and an alumna of the institution, accepted the donation with appreciation:
“This is a truly invaluable gift from the Class of 2004. The new chairs will make a tremendous difference, greatly enhancing the comfort and convenience for our students during assemblies, events, and exams. We are deeply grateful for your foresight and commitment to improving our school.”

Also present was Mr. John Adabie, Vice President of the National AISOSA alumni body, who praised the initiative and encouraged other year groups to follow this example in supporting the school’s development.

The event saw the participation of over 30 representatives from the 2004-Year group, who also took time to engage with current students, sharing their experiences and offering words of encouragement.

AISOSA 2004 remains committed to supporting their alma mater and looks forward to undertaking more impactful projects leading up to their 25th-anniversary celebrations.
