The Member of Parliament for Ashaiman, Ernest Henry Norgbey, has called for calm among his constituents following agitations over the lack of appointments in the John Dramani Mahama administration.
Some members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Ashaiman reportedly stormed the office of the Constituency Chairman and vandalized properties, with a promise to block the Accra-Tema Motorway in expressing their displeasure over the situation.
The MP, Ernest Norgbey, in addressing the Parliamentary Press Corps on Thursday, February 6, urged residents to exercise restraint and support the Mahama government in delivering on its resetting agenda.
“They [the supporters] were gathering at the China mall and I spoke to them that they shouldn’t do anything, they shouldn’t do anything at all.
“They shouldn’t cross the Motorway, they should just go home and then relax so that we wait and see the good work of John Dramani Mahama. We must all join hands and then reset Ghana.
“So I got to work when I heard that they had gone to the [constituency] chairman’s office, because I was with the chairman and I heard that they had gone to the chairman’s office to vandalise it. I can say on uncertain terms that we condemn that act, that they surely have taken their anger, frustration to the chairman’s office. But be it as it may, we also understood their frustration but what is wrong is wrong.”
