A group known as Jaman South NDC Youth for Development in the Bono Region has urged President John Dramani Mahama to appoint a party member from their constituency to a government position.
According to the group, the president appointing someone from the constituency will go a long way to strengthen the party and encourage the youth in the party to work harder to increase the party’s votes in the constituency.
Addressing a press conference at Drobo on February 12, the group noted that members of the party from the constituency who have the requisite qualifications over the years have never received any appointment compared to the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Their request follows the ongoing ministerial appointments made by President Mahama to work and support the fulfilment of his promises made to Ghanaians.
President Mahama has so far appointed 56 ministers to various sectors of his government. These appointments include ministers, deputy ministers and also regional ministers.
With a promise to run a government with just 60 ministers, the president has about 4 appointments to make, which he indicated will be done in the coming days.
