The Eastern Regional Minister, Rita Akosua Adjei Awatey, has met the staff of the Regional Coordinating Council (RCC) on her assumption of duty at Koforidua.
Addressing the staff on Thursday, February 13 she said” I am appreciative of you all for what you have done at the RCC over the years. And I hope to continue from where my predecessor left off, bearing in mind the vision of President John Dramani Mahama; that we shall embark on a series of activities and programmes aimed at resetting the country to build the Ghana we want.”
During the familiarization, Yaw Adu Asamoah, Eastern Regional Coordinating Director, presented the handing over notes of the former Regional Minister to Rita Akosua Adjei
The new Regional minister outlined some development projects aimed at improving quality education and health care, expanding access to mobile telecommunications with the rural telephony project, and mining responsibly such that forests, lands, and water bodies are protected.
She further noted that she would improve water and sanitation issues by providing quality and safe drinking water to people, improving the security situation to make sure lives are protected, and crime is reduced to the minimum.
“Employment for the youth is key for me, and we’ll take steps to make that a reality. We would have to do a lot more on our roads because we look forward to a region with expanded access to our farming communities so that foodstuffs can move easily to our market centres,” she added.
She urged the staff to adhere to ethical standards and moral principles to achieve the mission and vision of the coordinating council.
