Dr. Frank Amoakohene, the Ashanti Regional Minister, has shared details about his ministerial appointment, disclosing that he was informed just a day before his name was made public.

In an interview on GhOne TV, Dr. Amoakohene revealed that after the elections, he was focused on his role as the chief administrator of the party when he learned of his nomination as Regional Minister-Designate.

“I think it was a day before [the announcement] that I got wind that my name was on the table for discussion,” he recounted.

When asked about his reaction to the nomination, Dr. Amoakohene stated, “It’s the President’s decision, and it’s his government. He has worked with us and knows everyone’s strengths and what we can best contribute.”

He added, “Initially, and honestly, I wasn’t expecting a ministerial role. I was considering my age and other factors. I thought perhaps a deputy ministerial position, a CEO role, or even continuing to work within the party.”

Dr. Frank Amoakohene, a medical professional and youth leader with expertise in healthcare, governance, and public service, is now the youngest Ashanti Regional Minister in Ghana’s history.

He holds a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery from the University of Ghana, a Doctor of Medical Laboratory Science degree from the University for Development Studies (UDS), and an MBA from Accra Business School.

His appointment has been widely praised, with many believing that his extensive experience and deep understanding of the region will play a crucial role in driving growth and development in the Ashanti Region.
