The Minister of State for Government Communication, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, has attributed the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) defeat in the 2024 general elections to poor governance.
Speaking during an interview with Bernard Avle on Channel One TV’s The Point of View, Mr. Kwakye Ofosu dismissed claims that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) simply won by chance, expressing surprise at the wide margin of victory.
He cautioned the NDC against repeating the NPP’s mistakes, warning that Ghanaians will not hesitate to vote them out if they fail to deliver on their promises.
“Contrary to popular opinion that we had won, I think that the Ghanaian electorates punished the NPP for poor governance. Therefore, it becomes a questionary tale to us that if we do the same things the NPP did, perhaps we’re going to lose by an even larger margin.
“If they cause one party to lose an election by 1. 7 million votes margin, who is to say that they can’t inflict a three million deficit loss on us? And so, it has given us cause for reflection.”
He stated that the government is implementing precautionary measures to avoid mistakes that could upset Ghanaians.
“We’re quite cautious in the things that we do.”
