The Minister for the Interior, Alhaji Muntaka Mubarak, has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to fostering collaboration between state institutions and traditional authorities following a high-level engagement with His Royal Majesty, Nii Ayi Bonte II, the Gbese Mantse.

The courtesy call, which took place at the Interior Ministry in Accra, provided a platform for discussing critical issues affecting the Gbese Traditional Area and exploring areas of partnership between the government and traditional leadership.

During the meeting, Nii Ayi Bonte II underscored the importance of traditional rulers in local governance, highlighting concerns that are central to the well-being of his people.

He emphasised that effective governance at the community level requires close cooperation between traditional leaders and government institutions, particularly in areas such as security, social development, and conflict resolution.

Alhaji Muntaka Mubarak welcomed the insights shared by the Gbese Mantse, acknowledging the vital role that chiefs and traditional leaders play in maintaining peace and order.

He assured His Royal Majesty of the Ministry’s readiness to engage in meaningful collaborations that would enhance security, promote social cohesion, and improve governance within the Gbese Traditional Area.

“This meeting signifies our collective commitment to ensuring that governance is inclusive and reflective of the needs of all communities,” the Interior Minister stated.

The engagement marks an important step in strengthening ties between the Interior Ministry and traditional rulers, reinforcing the government’s recognition of traditional authority as an indispensable partner in national development.
