Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, Dr. Dominic Ayine, has named three nominees to serve on the General Legal Council, the body responsible for regulating legal education and professional conduct in Ghana.
The nominations, made in accordance with Section 1(2) of the Legal Profession Act, 1960, and Paragraph 2(1)(d) of its First Schedule, were announced in a statement from the Attorney-General’s office.
The nominees are:
- Francis Xavier Sosu, Member of Parliament for Madina
- Clara Beeri Kasser-Tee, Lecturer at the University of Ghana School of Law
- Dr. Abdul-Bassit Aziz Bamba, Senior Lecturer at the University of Ghana
Their appointment is expected to strengthen the Council’s role in maintaining professional standards within the legal profession.
The statement also confirmed that President John Mahama has been informed of the nominations.
Additionally, the Attorney-General assured Chief Justice Gertrude Torkornoo of his commitment to ensuring a smooth appointment process.
