The “Back to Your Village Food Festival,” hosted by Channel One TV and Citi FM, has entered its second day, continuing to attract culinary enthusiasts, cultural devotees, and enterprises keen to honour Ghana’s diverse gastronomic traditions.

The event, which commenced on March 29, 2025, at the forecourt of the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA), features a vibrant array of traditional dishes, live cooking demonstrations, and musical performances by bands such as Just Groove Band, Dromo Naa Band, and Edzordzinam Fafafli Borborbor.

Attendees had the opportunity to indulge in authentic Ghanaian flavors from various regions, including Tuo Zaafi, banku, and fufu served with assorted soups.

Vendors from across the country showcased specialties ranging from northern Ghana’s wasawasa to the coastal regions’ kenkey with fish and fante fante, offering a comprehensive taste of the nation’s diverse cuisine.

With the momentum from the first day, the second day promises even more exciting activities and culinary experiences for all attendees.

The festival aims to revive and promote indigenous foods, encouraging Ghanaians to reconnect with their roots through local delicacies.

This festival offers a golden opportunity to taste, learn, and appreciate Ghana’s local dishes in their most authentic forms. Many of the meals will be prepared using traditional cooking methods, preserving their original flavours.

Beyond main meals, the festival will showcase a variety of local drinks like Sobolo, Asaana, Pito, Palm Wine, and fresh coconut juice. Additionally, attendees will get to enjoy Ghanaian snacks such as Nkatie Cake, Bofrot, Agbeli Kaklo, and Atwemo.

The ‘Back to Your Village Food Festival’ will be filled with traditional drumming, dancing, and live music to keep the energy high. Expect thrilling performances from cultural groups showcasing Adowa, Kete, Kpanlogo, and Bamaya dances, among others..

Key sponsors include Jibu, Gino, KOA Natural, Twellium Industries, Pan African Savings and Loans, OCM, and the Contract Cleaners Association of Ghana.
