Minister for Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare has assured that government will consider listing State Owned Enterprises on the Ghana Stock Exchange.

This follows calls by the Managing Director of the Ghana Stock Exchange for the SOEs to be listed as a measure to enhance efficiency and profitability.

At the recently held national economic dialogue, the finance minister painted a bleak picture of heavy losses for the SOEs.

During a panel discussion at the same conference, the Trade Minister announced that government will explore the option of raising funds on the stock market for the SOEs

“I’m sure that government will look at listing SOEs and make sure that we get some of our funding locally. That’s the only way our pension funds will grow for us to get good pension,” she said.
