The Northern Regional Minister, Ali Adolf Nburdiba, has appealed to President John Mahama to consider establishing a military barracks in Yendi to address security concerns along the Eastern Corridor.
According to the Minister, a military base in the area would enhance security measures and ensure a swift response to emerging threats, particularly in the Northeast region.
He made this appeal at the Tamale Jubilee Park as part of the President’s Thank-You Tour of the Northern Region on Saturday, March 22.
“As part of our collective effort to ensure lasting peace and security in the Northern Region, especially along the Eastern Corridor, I humbly appeal to your esteemed office to consider the construction of a military barracks in Yendi.
“This move will not only boost security in the region but also serve as a rapid response mechanism to address the recurring conflicts that plague the Eastern Corridor. The presence of a military barracks will deter potential aggressors, foster a sense of safety among the people, and support the government’s broader agenda of promoting peace and development in our dear region,” the Minister stated.
