The Asankragwa District Court has convicted Daniel Baidoo for his attack on a group of journalists at Adumanya, near Asankran Breman in the Western Region.

The conviction, delivered on March 26, 2025, marks a significant step in ensuring justice for the victims of the assault.

Daniel Baidoo was sentenced to a fine of 300 penalty units, equivalent to GH₵3,600.00. In the event of non-payment, he faces one year of imprisonment with hard labor.

The court’s decision followed Baidoo’s change of plea to guilty.

The incident, which occurred on February 21, 2025, led to Baidoo’s arrest by the Western Central Regional Police Command.

During the arrest, authorities recovered a Panasonic Lumix camera and an iPhone belonging to the journalists.

Baidoo has since compensated the victims for the damaged items, enabling them to replace essential equipment.

The court also directed the police to release the compensation funds to the journalists, ensuring they could purchase new equipment to continue their work.
