The Northern Electricity Distribution Company Ltd (NEDCo) has announced the commencement of a general revenue mobilization and loss control exercise across its operational areas, effective April 7, 2025.

The initiative aims to recover arrears and curb illegal activities that contribute to revenue losses.

The exercise will target all categories of customers with outstanding bills, including private and state-owned accounts, except for a few critical exceptions.

Additionally, NEDCo will focus on addressing illegal and unauthorized electricity connections. The company has warned that those engaged in such activities will face legal action, with special security arrangements in place to arrest and prosecute offenders.

In support of the exercise, NEDCo has temporarily closed its Head Office and Area Offices to allow full staff participation, including top management. However, customer service centers, zonal offices, and third-party vendors will remain operational to address concerns such as reconnections.

Customers with unpaid bills have been urged to settle their accounts promptly to avoid disconnection and subsequent reconnection fees. Similarly, individuals involved in illegal connections have been advised to desist immediately to avoid legal consequences.

NEDCo assured the public that ongoing legal proceedings against offenders would not be affected by the exercise. The company also emphasised its commitment to engaging key stakeholders, including respected Palaces and Mosques, who have been informed and have expressed support for the initiative.

Maxwell K. Kotoka, NEDCo’s Manager of Corporate Communications, encouraged cooperation for the success of the exercise. “We can only serve you well when you use power decently and pay for same,” he stated.

This move forms part of NEDCo’s efforts to enhance operational efficiency and ensure sustainable power distribution across its service areas.
