The Savannah Regional Police Command has arrested a suspect in connection with a robbery and murder incident that occurred in Pwalugu, Upper East Region.
Savannah Regional Police Commander COP Samuel Alfred Winful confirmed that the suspect, identified as Nuhu Mumuni, was apprehended on April 8, 2025, at his hideout in Mankarigu, located within the Savannah Region. He was captured by the Regional Operations team.
Nuhu Mumuni had been on the Upper East Regional Police’s wanted list prior to his arrest. His capture marks a significant breakthrough in the investigation into the robbery and murder that shocked the Pwalugu community and its surrounding areas.
According to police reports, Mumuni, along with other accomplices, was involved in the fatal shooting of Benjamin Apuri, a mobile money vendor, on March 3, 2025. The attackers also made off with an undisclosed amount of money during the robbery.
This arrest is part of the police’s ongoing efforts to bring those responsible for violent crimes to justice. Authorities believe that Nuhu Mumuni’s capture will assist in identifying and apprehending the remaining suspects involved in the incident.
Mumuni is currently in the custody of the Savannah Regional Police Command. He is expected to be transferred to the Upper East Regional Police Command to assist with further investigations and face prosecution.
