President John Dramani Mahama has issued a firm ultimatum to all government appointees who have not yet complied with asset declaration laws, warning they will be dismissed if they fail to meet a final deadline of May 7, 2025.
The President’s directive comes amid ongoing efforts to enforce transparency and accountability within his administration. The move follows an earlier March 31 deadline, which some appointees failed to meet.
Speaking at the launch of the Code of Conduct for government appointees in Accra on Monday, May 5, Mahama emphasised the seriousness of the issue, declaring that no one would be exempt from the consequences of non-compliance.
“If by close of day, Wednesday, 7th May 2025, any of you still fails to declare your assets, count yourself automatically dismissed because when it comes to protecting the integrity of this government, I will not compromise,” he said.
Mahama also announced financial sanctions for defaulters, requiring those who missed the March deadline to forfeit three months’ salary, in addition to a one-month mandatory donation to the MahamaCares Fund.
