Dzata Foundation donates sanitary pads to Ningo Senior High Technical School students

In a show of support for menstrual health, the Dzata Foundation marked Menstrual Hygiene Day 2025 with a generous donation of sanitary pads to students at Ningo Senior High Technical School.

About 800 young girls received vital menstrual supplies as part of the foundation’s commitment to promoting menstrual dignity and hygiene.

The May 28 event was held in collaboration with Flora Ghana and Alpha Industries.

Chief Executive Officer of the Dzata Foundation, Vera George, emphasised the significance of the initiative, noting that it forms part of a broader campaign scheduled throughout the year.

“This is our second event for this year. Our last event, which was in March, was a livelihood empowerment as well. Today, we shared sanitary pads to about 800 students. And then every student had two sanitary pads,” she stated.

The partnership with Flora Ghana and Alpha Industries brought even more to the table for the girls. Each student also received two pieces of pocket-sized tissue and sachets of Top Choco, a chocolate beverage.

The companies also provided refreshing cold drinks to cap off the day.

“We got support from Flora and then Alpha Industries. They gave us pocket-sized tissue for our girls. And then they also gave them the Top Choco sachet. They came here as well to give the girls some cold drinks after the programme and so we are grateful to Alpha Industries and Flora for their support for our programme today,” Vera George added.

Beyond the donations, the event also shed light on a critical issue affecting many girls in Ghana—menstrual poverty. Vera George expressed concern about the barriers some students face due to lack of access to menstrual products, which often leads to absenteeism and poor academic performance.

“It is not just about being in your menses or having your menses, but what you do in the process. For example, the pads we gave them are to help them take care of themselves during that time of the month. There are girls who don’t go to school during that time of the month because they don’t have sanitary pads.”
