The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has announced that it is undertaking several projects to upgrade some of its substation transformers, improving the power supply in parts of Greater Accra and the Volta Region.
According to ECG, the upgrade is a result of faults it has identified with its transformers across its network, affecting power supply in certain areas, particularly in Tse Addo, and its environs.
Speaking to Citi News, General Manager for External Communications, Charles Nii Ayiku Ayiku, assured customers that redundancy measures are being implemented to ensure supply continuity during system failures.
“Next week, there is going to be a meeting with ECG and GRIDCo to conclude on this. We have also installed some redundancy projects to ensure supply continuity in case of failure.
For our customers around Tse Addo, we are installing a mobile substation, which will be completed in a few weeks. Then, there is also going to be an injection into some distribution transformers across our operational areas. There is an upgrade of transformers across, seven of our sub-stations in Accra and the Volta Region in areas such as Lashibi, La, Adenta, Teshie Nungua, Bastona, and Ridge,” he stated.
