President John Dramani Mahama has appointed Dr Paa Kwesi Baidoo as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) in Kumasi, following the dismissal of Prof. Otchere Addai-Mensah.

The decision was confirmed in an official statement dated April 30, 2025, and signed by Callistus Mahama, Secretary to the President.

The letter directed the regularisation of Dr. Baidoo’s appointment by the Ghana Health Service and Teaching Hospitals Act, 1996 (Act 525), as amended.

The dismissal of Prof. Addai-Mensah and the subsequent appointment of Dr. Baidoo have stirred mixed reactions, particularly from the Asante youth who have urged President Mahama to reinstate Prof Addai-Mensah.
