Former Auditor General Daniel Yao Domelevo has called on the current Auditor General, Johnson Akuamoah Asiedu, to publish a monthly list of public officers who have declared their assets.

His call follows government responses denying media reports that several high-profile officials from the Mahama administration have failed to submit their asset declaration forms.

According to the reports, nine out of 55 ministers and deputy ministers missed the March 31 deadline, defying both legal requirements and a directive from the President.

The government has, however, strongly refuted these claims, accusing the media of misreporting the situation.

In an interview with Citi News, Mr. Domelevo argued that regular publication of the list would promote transparency and encourage compliance.

“There is nothing wrong with the Auditor General updating us month by month on the assets of public officials. No law prohibits that. He is not going to disclose the content of what has been declared to him, but he should publish every month. That is going to be fantastic,” he stated.

He continued: “Given that the constitution says that the declaration should precede the taking of office, I will wish that the president takes a cue from the misbehaviour of his appointees.”
