As part of its 30th anniversary celebrations, UNICOM Chemist Limited, a key player in the pharmaceutical industry, organized a health walk among other activities to mark 30 years of contributing to healthcare delivery in Ghana.
The celebration, which was themed “Three decades of impact: Advancing Health and Changing Lives”, was held on May 10, 2025, at the Karikari Brobbey Park at Dansoman in Accra. The event commenced with a float and activation exercise through the Dansoman township, showing appreciation to citizens for their support over the years.
A screening exercise was organized for indigenes as well as staff and partners of UNICOM Chemist Limited. A variety of sporting activities, such as football matches, relay races, board games, etc. were held throughout the day as part of the scheduled activities.
Speaking to Citi News, Abiola Aheto Tsegah, Executive Director of UNICOM Chemist Limited, expressed satisfaction over the company’s contribution to the pharmaceutical industry in Ghana. He added that there is great prospect for Ghana to be a leading country in the manufacturing sector.
“It’s been awesome by the Grace of God, we’ve been able to chalk thirty years. We want the people we have been serving to know that it’s by their support that we’ve reached this height so we need to make sure that we recognize them by giving back to society.
“The government thinks that the pharma industry is ripe for Ghana to be a hub in the manufacturing sector so we will also flow in the direction of the country”
Mrs. Patience Tsegah, Managing Director of UNICOM Chemist Limited also indicated that the the company is committed in its efforts to sensitize the youth on the adverse effects of drug abuse, a recent canker common among the youth.

“We started of as a small shop in Dansoman and we now have over thirty one branches, sixteen whole sales and fifteen retail pharmacies and over the years we’ve also partnered with several multinational companies and hospitals and we have our own products on the market as well.
Dr. Charles Mawuli James Ocloo, Head of Research Development & Customer Service Development indicated that UNICOM Chemist endeavour a to expand its range across West Africa in the coming years.
