The second cohort of the AI Explorers Club, an initiative of BrainWave AfricaTech has officially concluded, marking another significant milestone in our mission to equip young Ghanaians with future-ready skills in artificial intelligence. This cohort was delivered through a continued and impactful collaboration with Achievers Ghana, aimed at extending this transformative initiative to brilliant girls from underserved communities.

Building on the success of the inaugural cohort, this second edition deepened its impact by focusing on real-world applications of AI through an engaging, hands-on learning experience.

Children, aged 8 to 15, participated in interactive sessions covering key AI concepts such as machine learning, generative AI, and responsible innovation. Participants explored how AI is used in everyday life—from virtual assistants to creative tools—and developed their own mini-projects to demonstrate their understanding.

At the closing session, participants proudly showcased their final projects to peers, tutors, and program partners. These ranged from AI-generated visual art to interactive chatbot prototypes—each one a testament to the creativity, curiosity, and capability of these young learners. Certificates of completion were awarded, and the energy in the room reflected the confidence and pride of a new generation stepping into the future.

Shirley Maison, Project Director of the AI Explorers Club, highlighted the significance of the initiative: “We are not just teaching technology—we are nurturing the next generation of innovators. Our collaboration with Achievers Ghana continues to be a powerful force in reaching brilliant young girls from underserved communities. Watching their curiosity evolve into tangible AI projects is truly inspiring.”

In today’s digital world, artificial intelligence is more than a buzzword—it’s a foundational skill. For Ghana’s youth, especially girls in underserved areas, early exposure to AI is critical to becoming active participants in the global tech landscape. Programs like the AI Explorers Club are bridging the digital divide, equipping young learners not just with technical skills, but with the confidence to innovate, solve problems, and lead.

Adding to this, Mr. Amadu, Director and Co-founder of Achievers Ghana, shared his thoughts on the program’s impact: “The girls were deeply inspired. For many of them, it was their first time learning about Artificial Intelligence, and they found it exciting and empowering. The training boosted their confidence and sparked a strong desire to learn more. Now that the program has ended, the girls all say the same thing. We wish it would never end. They are eager to continue exploring AI and hope for more opportunities like this in the future.

“We are committed to expanding this impact and call on companies and individuals to partner with us in sponsoring this worthy cause. Together, we can ensure that more young minds are empowered to become creators in the digital age.”

With momentum building and impact growing, Cohort 3 of the AI Explorers Club is set to launch on July 5th. The programme remains committed to scaling its reach and inspiring even more brilliant young girls across Ghana. Through continued partnerships and community support, this initiative of BrainWave AfricaTech is shaping a future where African youth are not just consumers of technology but creators, leaders, and innovators.
