In response to growing economic challenges and rapidly evolving market dynamics, digital strategist Maximus Ametorgoh is calling on businesses—particularly SMEs—to invest in digital skills and technology to survive and thrive.
Speaking during Week 4 of the #CitiBusinessFestival On-Air Series on the topic “Digital Skills Needed to Survive in Today’s Economy”, Ametorgoh emphasized that traditional business strategies alone are no longer sufficient.
“The current economic climate demands more than conventional approaches. SMEs must adapt and innovate using digital tools,” he said.
He stressed the importance of effective communication, particularly through digital channels. “Communication is how you connect with your customers and receive feedback. Email, for instance, is a powerful business tool. Every business should understand email marketing and build skills in that space,” he explained.
He also highlighted the need for digital literacy in virtual collaboration: “Learn how to organize virtual meetings using platforms like Zoom, Google Meet, or Microsoft Teams. Instead of printing newsletters, businesses should utilize tools like Mailchimp to create e-newsletters that can be sent weekly, monthly, or quarterly. These platforms also provide analytics to track engagement.”
