Residents and Commercial Drivers using the Ejisu-Onwe road in the Ejisu Municipality of the Ashanti region have appealed to the government to take urgent steps to fix the deplorable state of their roads.
For years, residents have struggled with severe dust pollution due to the abandoned road project, as contractors have left the construction site. The situation worsens during the rainy season, further affecting residents’ daily lives.
In 2024, the government began the rehabilitation of major roads within the Ejisu Municipality, including the Ejisu-Onwe road. However, the project has stalled for a year.
The road serves as a major route that connects communities like Essienimpong to Lake Bosomtwe and other adjoining areas.
According to residents, the deteriorated road is negatively affecting their lives and income, and they are thus appealing to the government to urgently intervene to fix the poor road condition.

Some drivers lament that the poor state of the road is affecting their daily income, stating that they have to spend their sales on vehicle maintenance and repairs.
“This road is taking a toll on our finances because we are always changing our spare parts. We would appreciate it so much if they fixed our road for us,” he said.
In response, the Member of Parliament for the Ejisu Constituency, Kwabena Boateng, assured the road users that he will constantly push for the government to fix the road.
He added that he will engage the contractor to move back to the site.
“The state of the road is beyond the word bad. What we do is that we’ll make various calls to the contractor who is in charge of this road,” he said.
