The National Anti-Illegal Mining Operation Secretariat (NAIMOS) Task Force has seized a cache of equipment and materials used in illegal mining activities during an operation in the Bole/Bamboi area of the Savannah Region.

The latest crackdown, carried out on July 25, 2025, comes as part of NAIMOS’ intensified efforts to clamp down on galamsey operations across the country, following the arrest of 11 Chinese nationals at the same site a day earlier, underscoring the Task Force’s determination to dismantle illegal mining networks.

A statement confirming the seizure was shared via social media by government spokesperson, Felix Ofosu Kwakye, on Sunday, July 27.

According to NAIMOS officials, the Task Force confiscated several vehicles and items believed to be used in illegal mining operations.

These include

Vehicles: 4 Shacman tipper trucks (GT 7048-25, GT 7035-25, GT 7265-25, GT 7243-25)

1 bulldozer (GT 5321-25)

1 low bed (GT 1128-21)

1 Forland small truck

– Other Items:
– 10 drums of engine oil
– 28 assorted Richlion tires
– Motorbikes

All confiscated equipment and items have been transported to the NAIMOS headquarters in Accra by hired drivers, where they are being held pending further investigations and directives.

The Task Force has reiterated its commitment to continuing similar operations in the Bole/Bamboi enclave and beyond, aimed at halting the degradation of Ghana’s environment and natural resources caused by illegal mining.
NAIMOS maintains that these ongoing exercises are crucial to safeguarding the country’s water bodies, forest reserves, and farmlands from further destruction by unlawful mining activities.
