The family of legendary Highlife musician Charles Kwadwo Fosu, popularly known as Daddy Lumba, is in deep shock following his sudden passing, according to their lawyer, Fati Ali Yallah.

Speaking in an interview on the Channel One Newsroom on Saturday July 26, Yallah said the family is devastated and currently unable to speak publicly about the loss.

“Very shocking. The family is just in a state of shock, state of pain. They cannot even talk. We are all shocked, including me, his lawyer. It is difficult for me,” she said.

She added that the family authorised her to confirm his death publicly due to widespread speculation and misinformation on social media.

“We were just mandated to announce the news of his demise because it was flying all over social media. Everybody was writing anything, so the family mandated us as his lawyer to announce it officially.”

Yallah stressed that all other details surrounding his passing remain confidential for now. “The family again has instructed that all other information be made confidential. We cannot disclose anything until we are instructed to do so,” she said.

She assured the public that the family would release an official statement with further details at the appropriate time.

Daddy Lumba passed away at the Bank Hospital in Accra on Saturday, July 26, 2025. He was 59.
