The outgoing United Kingdom’s High Commissioner to Ghana, Harriet Thompson, has lauded Ghana’s international reputation, highlighting the country’s cultural pride, hospitality, and enduring traditions as key elements of its strong global appeal.

Speaking in an interview on Channel One TV‘s The Point of View on Wednesday July 16, she emphasised that Ghana’s image abroad is overwhelmingly positive, largely due to the distinctive warmth and welcoming nature of its people.

“Ghana has a fantastic reputation overseas,” she noted. “Perhaps even more so, Ghanaians have a reputation of being very warm, very welcoming, and very proud of their rich traditions and culture.”

Her comments reflect the longstanding diplomatic and people-to-people ties between Ghana and the UK, as well as growing international recognition of Ghana’s political stability, cultural heritage, and vibrant civil society.

The High Commissioner’s remarks come at a time when Ghana continues to promote itself as a destination for investment, tourism, and Pan-African engagement.
