West Hills Mall recently brought families and food lovers together for a vibrant celebration of Father’s Day with its much-anticipated “King of the Grill” Cook-Off. Held on June 15 at the mall’s Forecourt in collaboration with Pluzz 89.9FM, the event delivered a memorable afternoon of culinary creativity, laughter, and community bonding.

The Father’s Day Cook-Off showcased fathers teaming up with their children and friends to prepare some of Ghana’s most beloved dishes, turning the mall into a lively hub filled with enticing aromas and spirited cheers.

From expertly stirred stews to sizzling grills, participants demonstrated impressive skill and passion, all in the spirit of celebrating fatherhood and togetherness.

Speaking on the sidelines to the media, Marketing Manager for West Hills Mall, Wendy Aryee, expressed satisfaction on the turnout of the event.

“We are thrilled with the overwhelming response to this year’s ‘King of the Grill’ Cook-Off. Our goal was to create a fun and engaging space where families could come together to celebrate Father’s Day through the joy of cooking and community and we’re glad to have been able to achieve that taking a cue from the passion, creativity and smile shared by the participants,” she said.

Adding to the excitement, popular Ghanaian artist Tulenkey thrilled the crowd with an energetic performance that kept the atmosphere electric and ensured guests were entertained throughout the afternoon.

At the close of an exciting contest, Abraham Bryan Junior from S.C.C emerged as the overall winner, captivating the judges with his masterfully prepared fufu with ebunuebunu. Second place went to the team of Edem Reuben and Kenclark Adwadzie from Red Top, whose banku with okro stew was both beautifully presented and richly flavored.

Gloria Afua Nyamedo from Kwabenya took third place with her colourful waakye accompanied by shito and stew, while eleven-year-old Zoey Hyford earned admiration across the crowd by securing fourth place with her impressive jollof served with chicken and coleslaw.

The 2025 West Hills Mall “King of the Grill” Cook-Off made was supported by Sonotech, Tasty Tom, Decathlon, Eazzy Cuisine, Onga, Twisco, and Lyzy Tomato Mix.

The Mall looks forward to welcoming even more families and aspiring grill masters next year for another unforgettable celebration.
