The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has officially endorsed Solomon Kwame Asumadu, Chief Executive Officer of Owuo Mining Company, as its parliamentary candidate for the upcoming Akwatia by-election.

According to the party, the decision was made after extensive stakeholder consultations, during which a proposal to hold primaries was overwhelmingly rejected in favour of a consensus approach.

Addressing journalists in Parliament on Monday, July 28, Eastern Regional NPP Chairman, Jeff Konadu Addo, explained the process that led to the selection.

“We commissioned research. People went into the constituency and gathered all the names of individuals who had expressed interest. After assessing the report on who the most suitable candidate could be, the party found that Kwame Asumadu Solomon had emerged as the clear choice,” he said.

He added that the party’s findings were presented to the national council, which subsequently gave the green light to proceed with the necessary processes.

“Today marks the official announcement of Kwame Asumadu as the NPP’s candidate for the Akwatia by-election,” Konadu declared.
