The Chiefs and people of Adabraka, within the Otuopai Traditional Area, have successfully climaxed this year’s Homowo Festival with a community-focused event aimed at promoting health and well-being.

As part of the celebration, residents participated in a free health screening and blood donation exercise, organised to give back to the community and encourage healthy living.

Held in the heart of Adabraka, the event brought together traditional leaders, youth groups, and health professionals, who offered medical checks for blood pressure, glucose levels, and other basic health indicators.

A dedicated team from the National Blood Service was also present to collect voluntary blood donations to help replenish blood banks.

Speaking at the event, traditional leaders emphasised the importance of incorporating health awareness into cultural celebrations.

They noted that while Homowo is traditionally about thanksgiving and the hooting at hunger, it is equally a time to care for one another and promote unity and development within the community.

Residents praised the initiative, describing it as a meaningful way to celebrate the festival while addressing real needs in the community.
