The Ghana Bar Association (GBA) has honoured the memory of the eight victims of the August 6 military helicopter crash with a solemn wreath-laying ceremony at Jubilee House.
Led by National President Efua Ghartey, the GBA delegation paid tribute to what they described as “heroes” who lost their lives while serving the nation.
Speaking to the media after the ceremony on Thursday, August 14, 2025, Ms. Ghartey said the tragedy had deeply affected the association.
“Indeed, when we heard the news, we were deeply moved as an association. In our recent history, we have never encountered such an accident. The lives lost and the investments made into those lives make this death more like a tragedy to the nation,” she said.
She expressed the association’s condolences to the bereaved families and prayed for national healing.
“Our prayer is that the good Lord will comfort their families and loved ones and help them to move on. We also pray that as a nation, we will heal and learn from any mistakes that we discover. As far as we are concerned, never again should this nation encounter such an accident.”
The August 6 crash in the Adansi Akrofoum District of the Ashanti Region claimed the lives of eight prominent figures, including government officials and military personnel. A state funeral for the victims is to be held on Friday, August 15, at Independence Square.
