Kwabena Agyei Agyepong, former General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has filed his nomination to contest in the party’s upcoming presidential primary, scheduled for Saturday, January 31, 2026.
Agyepong has become the first to file for the race, as the party gears up to elect its next presidential candidate ahead of the 2028 general elections.
His submission comes at a time when the NPP has expanded its voter register to include additional party stakeholders.
The Presidential Elections Committee, in a statement on Tuesday, August 26, announced new categories of eligible delegates, including former executives, ministers, MPs, MMDCEs, TESCON leaders, and external branch officials — all of whom will have a say in who becomes the party’s next flagbearer.
The registration for these additional delegates will end on Friday, September 19, 2025. The comprehensive update to the delegate album is aimed at promoting inclusiveness and ensuring a more representative voting base for the crucial internal election.
