Restore our contract in seven days or we’ll sue – Evatex Logistics to GACL

Evatex Logistics Limited has given the Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) a seven-day ultimatum to reverse the termination of its revenue assurance contract or face legal action.

The company, through its legal and management consultants, K-Archy, responded to a termination letter issued by GACL on August 1, stating it considers the move unjustified, unreasonable, and executed in bad faith.

In the letter, GACL Managing Director Yvonne Nana Afriyie Opare instructed Evatex to demobilise and vacate the Kotoka International Airport (KIA) cargo premises by August 27, 2025.

The termination was reportedly due to the absence of evidence showing any revenue concealment or recovery since Evatex began operations at the cargo section, resulting in no payments made to the company.

However, in a strongly worded response dated Monday, July 28, Evatex expressed shock, insisting that it had already begun work, submitted reports for action, and made capital investments worth US$64.6 million in infrastructure tailored specifically for GACL.

“Our client considers the intention to terminate the said contract as actuated by bad faith and unreasonableness. The purported termination is unacceptable.  Given the foregoing, and in the spirit of seeking an amicable settlement, our client instructs us to inform you to withdraw the said letter within seven days of receipt, or we shall be compelled to institute legal action to recover the capital investments and seek other reliefs.”

Evatex’s contract is currently under investigation by the Office of the Special Prosecutor following revelations that it is linked to Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Limited (SML), a company at the centre of controversy over multi-million-dollar revenue assurance deals with the Ministry of Finance and Ghana Revenue Authority.

Former Board Chairman of the Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL), Paul Adom-Otchere, was invited by the Office of the Special Prosecutor and detained on Thursday, July 31, 2025, in connection with an ongoing investigation into a contract awarded during his tenure.
