Minister for Jobs, Labour and Employment, Dr Rashid Pelpuo, has indicated that the government is urgently restructuring Ghana’s education curriculum to make it more industry-focused.

According to the Minister, Ghana must be deliberate in encouraging young Ghanaians to be practical and innovative, moving away from the usual theoretical approach.

Speaking at the Annual National Precision Quality Conference, organised by the Design and Technology Institute, the Minister for Labour, Dr Rashid Pelpuo, stressed the need for immediate action to restructure the education curriculum to drive growth and development.

“Resetting is not just a talk; it is an action, and the action must start from changing our attitude in education, in the training we give to our young people, in developing the TVET into a much more complex and sophisticated instrument that can respond to the challenges of development in the world and in Ghana in particular.”

Also, the founder and President of the Design and Technology Institute, Constance Elizabeth Swaniker,  has called for government policies to outlast political cycles to ensure sustained support for initiatives equipping youth with industry-relevant, precision-assured skills.

“Practising politics should not hold hostage our future. Our youth deserve consistency. Frequent policy changes driven by political cycles waste opportunities. Waste opportunities and resources. Human capital must become a bipartisan national goal that lasts beyond elections”
