As Ghana commemorates the 116th birthday of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah with this year’s NkrumahFest in his hometown of Nkroful, the Member of Parliament for Ellembelle, Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, is urging the country to adopt Nkrumah’s vision as a blueprint for national development.
Addressing the crowd at the event, Armah-Kofi Buah, who also serves as Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, emphasised that Ghanaians must move beyond simply honouring Nkrumah’s memory and instead embody his legacy through action—particularly by joining the fight against illegal mining.
Minister of Tourism, Dzifa Gomashie, highlighted the growing importance of NkrumahFest, noting that the annual event has now become a key part of Ghana’s tourism calendar because of its historical and cultural significance.
Western Regional Minister, Joseph Nelson, also addressed the gathering and called on Ghanaians to live by Nkrumah’s outstanding principles rather than merely celebrate him once a year.
Meanwhile, celebrations at NkrumahFest continue with music, cultural performances, and exhibitions. For many residents of Nkroful, the growing prominence of the festival raises hopes that the town will soon emerge as a major tourism destination.
