The Ghana Police Service has announced the successful rescue of 60 victims of human trafficking in a series of coordinated operations conducted between 5th and 19th September 2025.

Director General of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), COP Lydia Yaako Donkor, at a presser on Saturday, September 20, revealed that the victims included 41 foreign nationals rescued within Ghana and 19 Ghanaians rescued abroad.

All individuals have since been turned over to the appropriate agencies for reintegration with their families.

“These operations form part of our ongoing efforts to combat human trafficking and protect vulnerable individuals from exploitation,” COP Donkor stated.

The Ghana Police Service is urging the public to be vigilant and cautious when responding to job offers, especially those that require long-distance travel through multiple countries.

“No legitimate recruitment agency will require people to travel by road through several countries as part of an employment process,” she warned.

COP Donkor further emphasised that luring or recruiting others under false pretences is a criminal offence, and perpetrators will face the full rigours of the law. Police are also calling on victims of trafficking to report their experiences at the nearest police station for support and protection.

COP Donkor appealed to families, communities, and survivors to play an active role in the fight against trafficking by sharing experiences and staying informed.

“This fight requires a collective effort. By working together, we can help prevent others from falling victim to these criminal networks,” she added.
