The Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, Samuel George, is expected to address the press on Monday, September 29, 2025, on the standoff with MultiChoice Ghana, operators of DStv, over the reduction of subscription fees.

This follows the Minister’s directive to the regulator, the National Communications Authority (NCA), to establish a stakeholder committee tasked with evaluating DStv pricing in Ghana.

The committee is expected to present its report on Monday, September 29, 2025.

The committee, which commenced work on September 8, 2025, was mandated to develop a shared understanding of DStv pricing in Ghana and propose measures that are commercially viable and acceptable in addressing concerns raised by the Minister for Communications, Digital Technology and Innovation, Samuel George.

It was further tasked with designing a roadmap to curb cross-border piracy of DStv decoders and services from Nigeria into Ghana.

At the briefing, the Minister will present recommendations from the committee reviewing DStv’s pricing structure and proposing commercially viable measures acceptable to both the company and the government.

The engagement seeks to clarify — and potentially settle — the standoff, with the Minister repeatedly threatening suspension and DStv resisting demands for price reductions.
