A man is feared drowned after a canoe capsized on the White Volta at Daboya in the Savannah Region in the early hours of Monday, October 27, 2025.

Confirming the incident to Citi News, Abdul Rashid Yamusah, Director of the North Gonja District Office of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), identified the victim as Razack Simon, a local boat paddler in his early forties.

He explained that Razack had just ferried a group of farmers from Daboya to the Tamale bank and was returning alone when the canoe overturned at about 4:12 a.m.

Mr. Yamusah added that a rescue team has been deployed to search for the missing paddler.
