Zijin Golden Ridge Limited, one of Ghana’s leading gold mining companies, has reaffirmed its commitment to youth empowerment and community development through a three-day career training programme in the Birim North District of the Eastern Region.

Dubbed the Zijin Employment Clinic, the initiative is designed to equip young people from the company’s host communities with essential skills to enhance their employability and prepare them for future career opportunities.

Over 320 participants attended the training, which featured practical sessions on CV writing, interview preparation, workplace readiness, and career planning. Facilitators guided participants through hands-on exercises and group activities, helping them build confidence, develop practical skills, and gain a clearer understanding of the job market.

Speaking on the vision behind the programme, Agyemang Okyere, General Manager of Zijin’s Akyem Mine, said the initiative reflects the company’s broader goal of local capacity development.

“This programme aligns with one of our key commitments as a company — local capacity development, ensuring that people from this area are not left behind as we grow,” Mr. Okyere stated.

“As we continue to expand our operations, we want to make sure local people are ready to take advantage of these opportunities.”

He further emphasised that the company views mining as a catalyst for shared progress.

“We believe that mining must go beyond extraction. It must create value, deliver opportunity, and build a better future for the people who live and work around our operations. That is why the Zijin Employment Clinic is important. It is not simply an event — it is an investment in people.”

The initiative forms part of Zijin’s ongoing efforts to promote youth development, improve local economic resilience, and support the long-term socio-economic growth of its host communities.
