Born on December 24, 1978, in Adeiso in Ghana’s Eastern Region, Nana Kwasi Boatey Esq. has built a distinguished career that bridges law, media, and business.
A lawyer, businessman, and politician, he currently serves as the Managing Director of the Ghana Publishing Company Limited, following his appointment by the President of the Republic of Ghana, H.E. John Dramani Mahama, on February 16, 2025.
Nana Kwasi Boatey’s journey began humbly in Akyem Awisa, where he received his basic education at Awisa Presby Primary School and continued at Awisa Presby Boarding School for his junior high education.
His academic excellence earned him a place at Prempeh College in Kumasi, one of Ghana’s premier secondary institutions, where his leadership and intellectual curiosity began to shine.
After completing his pre-tertiary education, he pursued Pharmacy Technology at Kumasi Technical University, graduating with a Higher National Diploma (HND) in 2001.
His passion for learning and justice later drew him to the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), where he studied law, earning an LLB degree between 2005 and 2008. He was subsequently called to the Ghana Bar in 2011, marking the beginning of his legal career.
Over the years, Nana Kwasi Boatey’s professional life has spanned diverse sectors. Before his appointment as Managing Director, he lectured Civil Procedure at the Ghana School of Law in Kumasi and served as the Head of Chambers at Dadson and Associates Ltd., a respected law firm. His depth of legal knowledge and leadership earned him recognition in both academia and the legal fraternity.
Outside the courtroom, Nana Kwasi Boatey made a name for himself in Ghana’s media landscape, working for over two decades as a broadcast professional.
He hosted several influential radio programs, including “Decision 2020” on Luv FM and “Action Point” on Kapital Radio, where he engaged audiences on national issues and governance.
His entrepreneurial pursuits also saw him establish and manage Orbitplus Pharmacy Ltd., reflecting his early background in pharmaceutical science and his belief in diversifying business interests.
In his earlier career, Nana Kwasi Boatey played key roles in public service. Between 2009 and 2011, he served as Parliamentary Liaison and Assistant to the then Minister of Trade and Industry, Hannah Tetteh, and also worked as Board Secretary to the Board of Directors of the Ghana Standards Authority — positions that honed his skills in governance, policy, and institutional management.
When President Mahama appointed him as the Acting Managing Director of the Ghana Publishing Company Limited in February 2025, following the termination of the former MD, Mr. David Asante, Nana Kwasi Boatey wasted no time in introducing reforms to modernize the state-owned enterprise.
Among his initiatives are the introduction of a 24-hour shift system to enhance productivity and the realignment of staff roles to reflect employees’ qualifications and expertise. He has also restructured the company’s organogram, creating new departments such as the Legal Department, Quality Control Unit, and Corporate Affairs Department, aimed at improving efficiency and accountability.
Through his leadership, Nana Kwasi Boatey is positioning the Ghana Publishing Company for greater operational effectiveness and relevance in an evolving digital age.
