Nutrifoods Ghana Limited has resumed production and distribution of its Tasty Tom Enriched Tomato Mix after receiving clearance from the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA).

The clearance, granted on September 12, 2025, followed a thorough evaluation of the company’s operations, which reaffirmed the safety, quality, and compliance of its products.

In August, Nutrifoods recalled select batches of Tasty Tom as a precautionary measure after some products failed to meet its internal quality standards. The company said the recall underscored its commitment to consumer safety and readiness to act decisively when concerns arise.

Following the recall, Nutrifoods worked closely with the FDA in a comprehensive review that examined its factory operations. As part of the process, the company strengthened its quality assurance systems, including enhanced process controls and extended incubation protocols.

“This review reaffirmed that our production systems and products are fully compliant with the highest standards and regulatory requirements,” the company said in a statement.

Nutrifoods also apologised to consumers for any inconvenience caused and expressed gratitude for their continued trust.

For more than a decade, Tasty Tom has been a widely used cooking product in Ghana. The company noted that the product is now back on the market and available to consumers.

Nutrifoods Ghana, a joint venture between Olam International and Sanyo Foods, operates two major processing facilities in Tema, producing culinary products and biscuits for domestic and export markets. Its portfolio includes flagship products such as Tasty Tom Tomato Mix, Jollof Mix, Pepper & Onion Mix, and a variety of biscuits, including Perk, Nutrisnax, and Royal King Cracker.

The company is recognised as the first biscuit manufacturer in West Africa to earn Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) certification through the FSSC 22000 standard.
