Director-General of the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT), Kwesi Afreh Biney, has urged individuals and businesses to register with the SSNIT Scheme to secure their financial future and ensure stability during retirement.

Speaking on the Citi Breakfast Show with Bernard Avle on Thursday, October 30, ahead of SSNIT’s 60th anniversary, Mr. Biney underscored the crucial role of social security contributions in providing long-term financial protection for workers.

He noted that the SSNIT Scheme serves as a lifeline for many retirees by offering steady income support, thereby reducing dependency and economic hardship after active service.

“I would encourage all Ghanaians to sign up to the scheme. It’s important, and as we say at SSNIT, ‘fa wo daakye personal’ [take your future seriously], let’s win together,” Mr. Biney urged.

He further reaffirmed SSNIT’s commitment to transparency, prudent fund management, and continuous reforms aimed at expanding coverage, especially to workers in the informal sector.

According to him, ensuring broader participation in the scheme remains key to strengthening Ghana’s social protection system and guaranteeing a more secure retirement for all.
