The trial of former Chief Executive of the Public Procurement Authority (PPA), Adjenim Boateng Adjei, is set to continue today, October 21, 2025, at the Criminal Division of the High Court in Accra.
Mr. Adjei is facing eight charges, including using public office for profit and influencing the procurement process to gain an unfair advantage. The case, titled The Republic v. Adjenim Boateng Adjei (CR/0257/2024), is being prosecuted by the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP).
These charges are part of an ongoing case that began after Mr. Adjei was accused of abusing his position while serving as head of the PPA between March 2017 and August 2019. He allegedly manipulated the award of public contracts for personal benefit.
In 2024, the OSP had filed similar charges linked to his involvement with a company called Talent Discovery Limited (TDL), which was used to win government contracts. A documentary titled “Contracts for Sale” first brought the issue to light in 2019, leading to his dismissal by then-President Nana Akufo-Addo on the recommendation of the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ).
The trial was adjourned earlier this year and resumes today as the OSP continues its efforts to prosecute alleged corruption and abuse of office.
